Brown Sugar | “Crazy” in Love with Myra Smith Wright – A Brown Sugar Review

8 August 2013 Brown Sugar

There are some voices you come across in life that are hard to forget. Myra Smith Wright has one of those voices.  The Myra Smith Experience, (affectionately known as the MSE) includes Myra’s lead vocals complemented by background vox and a talented live band. They’ve been wowing crowds up and down the East Coast since 2009. I first heard Myra’s powerful voice at VA’s famous open mic “Fuzzy Wednesdays” singing a Jill Scott medley.  Myra is well known and loved for her passionate performances of both originals and covers. So when I got her latest single in my Brown Sugar inbox, I was expecting something along those lines. Yoooo I was in for an amazing surprise. So much so that I had to look up and make sure I was playing the correct link lol Myra’s new track “Crazy” is upbeat, raw, and colorful. While the song’s story line of a lover scorned  and out for revenge isn’t new,  her take on it is fresh! I don’t plan to go all Angela Basset in Waiting to Exhale BUT if I was this would be my riding music!! The song is written and produced by VA’s own D’Nik and is definitely Brown Sugar approved. Make sure and check for the MSE if they’re in a city near you and cop the single on Bandcamp (link below)!!
