It’s no secret that we’re big fans of jazz music at The Diggers Union, and we’ve done numerous episodes of Enjoy and Be Educated on the genre. This year, legendary label Blue Note Records celebrates 75 years in the business of releasing quality material consistently. From their acclaimed business practices to their ability to adapt and experiment, to say they’ve changed the genre is a severe understatement. 2014 will also be bookmarked by Jazz aficionados due (in part) to their 100 album vinyl initiative, with 100 essential albums from their esteemed catalog being remastered and reissued on vinyl (including original artwork/packaging and additional information). This will begin on March 25, 2014 with 5 LPs per month being released under this initiative. This date also remains important due to the announcement that the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles will launch the exhibit, Blue Note Records: The Finest In Jazz. This is quite an exciting feat and is another testament to the longevity and quality of the label. Our brand new mix includes 18 tracks of supreme craftsmanship from some of the best in the business. With songs from artists such as Donald Byrd, McCoy Tyner, and Sabu Martinez, once again we delve deep into the depths of Blue Note and highlight even more timeless material. Enjoy and be educated.
