- Her first album, My 18th Day, came out in 2004 and won a MOBO Award for Best Newcomer. It charted at number-35 in the U.K.
- She crossed over into U.S. with “American Boy” on her second album, Shine. The hit single featured Kanye West.
- Her third album, All of Me, included the lead single “Freak” featuring Kardinal Offishall.
1941, Born on this day, David Ruffin, vocals, The Temptations, (1971 US No.1 & UK No. 8 single ‘Just My Imagination’ and re-issued ‘My Girl’ UK No.2 in 1992, solo, 1975 US No.9 & UK No.10 single ‘Walk Away From Love’). Ruffin died of a drug overdose on 1st June 1991
