January 17th – The Paramount Pictures film “Juice” opens in U.S. theaters, on this day in 1992.
“Juice” was directed by longtime Spike Lee director of cinematography Ernest R. Dickerson and also served as the vehicle for the film debut of the late Tupac Shakur.
“Juice” also co-starred Omar Epps, Queen Latifah, and Cindy Herron of En Vogue.
It featured cameo roles from other hip-hop luminaries such as EPMD, Treach of Naughty By Nature, Special Ed and Fab 5 Freddy.
The hit soundtrack, on S.O.U.L. Records, included performances by Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Son Of Bazerk, Aaron Hall and Brand New Heavies.
“Juice” was scored by Gary G-Wiz, of The Bomb Squad production team.
