Happy Birthday DJ Spinbad (Vipers, Skratch*Makaniks and more) I consider DJ Spinbad in my top 2 of dopest DJ’s of all time. Technically hands down he’s one of the best doing shit in 97 when I heard and then met that I can’t do! Salute to a great friend and incredible turntablist. Check out mixes today!
Black Sheep released their third album, “8WM/Novakane”, as a digital release, on this day in 2006.
A physical release of the set would follow two months later in December on Bumrush Records.
Although the album was intended as a Black Sheep album as evidenced on the album’s cover credits, many have referred to it as a solo Dres album due to the fact that group member Mista Lawnge appeared only briefly on the album after announcing his departure from Black Sheep just prior to the release of the album.
The set would feature production from Showbiz, Vitamin D and BeanOne.
Yummy Bingham would guest on the track “Wonder.”
“8WM/Novakane” produced the single and video “Whodat?”

The Cactus Album, also known as The Cactus Cee/D, is the debut album by hip-hop trio 3rd Bass, released on Def Jam Recordings on October 23, 1989. The album received positive reviews from the hip hop press, and the group gained some publicity by being arguably the second white group to achieve hip hop credibility, after the Beastie Boys. It was certified gold by the RIAA on April 24, 1990,[3] the same day as Biz Markie‘s The Biz Never Sleeps,[4] which was released two weeks prior to The Cactus Album.
The Cactus Album peaked at #5 on Billboard‘s Top Hip Hop/R&B Albums chart and at #55 on the Billboard 200 chart. In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source’s 100 Best Rap Albums. A decade later, Rhapsody (online music service) included The Cactus Album in its list of “The 10 Best Albums By White Rappers”.
