Boogie Down Productions DJ D-Nice (Derrick Jones) celebrates his birthday today.
- BDP was formed by KRS-One, Scott LaRock and D-Nice in the Boogie-Down Bronx in the mid-’80s.
- LaRock was murdered shortly after the 1987 release of the group’s first album, Criminal Minded.
- D-Nice continued to work with KRS-One in BDP for nearly five years, but then went his own way.
- His two solo albums are Call Me D-Nice (1990) and To tha Rescue (1991).
- These days, he works as a photographer in the music business.
