#TurntableTuesday Rob Swift cutting up Devo “Whip It”

23 May 2017 Fresh Radio

So dope and flawless…and read the post.  I agree 100% Catch him in the mix at Noon for #LegendsAtNoon

I dunno, I’m an OG at this DJ shit. And so it’s to the point now that when I practice, I don’t even use my Rane 62 these days. Don’t get me wrong, It’s a gorgeous mixer. However, at times it’s beauty distracts me from connecting with my higher self. The creative part of who I am, and as far as I’m concerned, incessantly triggering colorful hot cues or engaging delay effects isn’t the imaginative aspect of rockin’ doubles of a song like “Whip It”. The magic of “Beat Juggling” or Scratching is no where in the vicinity of a brightly lit hot cue, filter effect or laptop screen. Instead it resides within the 6 or so inches of distance that separate any given mixer’s fader from a turntable’s platter. That sacred space with which your right and left hands are inspired to maneuver in. I call that area “God space”. Otherwise known as the range of motion where you tap into your true, authentic potential as a DJ. #TurntableTuesday #WhipItJuggle #BrolicArm #WeTalkinBoutPractice
