DJ Joonie C reporting from NAMM 2017, Day 2
22 January 2017 Fresh Radio
Day 2 started out pretty cold and rainy in the morning. It was also what I needed to recover from yesterday and last nights shenanigans. Today I wanted to focus on booths that I wanted to see what’s really new I knew nothing of.
First spot I saw was Touch innovations and it was basically the GUI (Graphic User Interface) of your DVS but in a touchscreen!!! Not my cup of tea, but cool nonetheless.
Then I spotted a booth from vinylrecorder.com…, yes a device where you can cut your own vinyl!!! I was truly impressed. For $4000 you can cut your own plates.
Then I slid over to the ProX Cases booth. Famous for selling the classic Red Bull flight case they also debuted a new flight case for the DJ that rocks 1 turntable and a mixer. A 1 piece design for that holds the turntable battle style and space for a 10 inch mixer. Pretty cool indeed.
While I was here I’m shopping for a condenser Mic for myself. The cool thing about NAMM you can have 1 on 1 discussions from the actual representative of the company that produces the product. And as I hit a few booths I stepped over to the Blue and saw 2 nice affordable Mics on hand. For as low as $199 the Spark Was a thing of beauty. But I’m sold on the Bluebird model. Around $300 I can get good vocals on future podcasts and tracks.
At the end of the day I was honored to hit the D.A.S. booth to witness DJ Jazzy Jay and Grandmaster DXT lay down a turntable set. It was an honor to witness DJ royalty rock the decks indeed and meet legends of the game. I also met Breakbeat Lou as well. All cats that made Hip Hop what it is today. Saturday’s my last day here so I will be pumped to see what’s going down on the Biggest day of NAMM!!
