August 12th – Sir Mix-A-Lot was born Anthony Ray in Seattle, Washington, on this day in 1963.<\/p>\n

In 1986, Sir Mix-A-Lot started a record label called Nastymix Records with his DJ, Nasty Nes.<\/p>\n

He released his platinum selling debut album, \u201cSwass\u201d, on Nastymix in 1988. \u201cSwass\u201d would feature the hit singles \u201cPosse On Broadway\u201d and a hip-hop re-make of the Black Sabbath<\/a> classic \u201cIron Man\u201d featuring San Francisco metal outfit Metal Church. The title track would be sampled by The Pussycat Dolls on their 2005 smash hit \u201cDon\u2019t Cha\u201d (featuring Busta Rhymes).<\/p>\n

Sir Mix-A-Lot released his sophomore set \u201cSeminar\u201d in1989, also on Nastymix before signing with Rick Rubin\u2019s Def American Records.<\/p>\n

In 1992, Def American released his multi-platinum third album \u201cMack Daddy\u201d, which spawned the huge number one monster hit single \u201cBaby Got Back.\u201d \u201cBaby Got Back\u201d as a single sold over two million copies and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. The video became an MTV staple.<\/p>\n

Sir Mix-A-Lot has released three more albums to date; 1994\u2019s Chief Boot Knocka\u201d, 1996\u2019s \u201cReturn Of The Bumpasaurus\u201d and 2003\u2019s \u201cDaddy\u2019s Home.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2010, Sir Mix-A-Lot released a new single and its accompanying video called \u201cCarz\u201d, which to date has had over a million views on You Tube. \u201cCarz\u201d is from a forthcoming album entitled \u201cDun 4Got About Mix\u201d on his own Rhyme Cartel label.<\/p>\n

Sir Mix-A-Lot is also currently producing new music for artists such as Outtasite, Tomeka Williams and E-Dawg on Rhyme Cartel as well.<\/p>\n

Sir Mix-A-Lot has also stayed busy as an actor and narrator in television and film with appearances or narration on \u201cThe Simpsons\u201d, \u201cWheedle\u2019s Groove\u201d and \u201cThe Watch.\u201d<\/p>\n
